About the contest:
The competition was open to 6th grade students from all schools in Escambia County. Students from participating schools were asked to submit an essay based on the following question: How can you help our community be greener?

  • Essays had to be a minimum of 500 words
  • One winning student per school was chosen
  • The winning student from each school received a $100 savings bond

Judges:
Special thanks go to our judges, Bob Solarski of WEAR TV3 and Carl Wernicke of the Pensacola News Journal. The judges gave generously of their time over a period of several months reading essays from each school and selecting those they deemed outstanding.
