ESP Natural Gas Announces Essay Contest Winners
as part of the SEE Program

Pensacola, Fl. - As part of its Sustainability and Energy Education (SEE) Program, ESP Natural Gas recently held a drawing and essay writing contest for all Escambia County 4th and 6th grade students in both public and private schools. In its second year, the contest drew in participation from 21 schools, generating a total of 17 winners, five in the essay category and 17 in the drawing category. Mike Wiggins, Mayor of Pensacola, honored each winner with a certificate of accomplishment, a $100 U.S. Savings Bond and a photo op during a ceremony at the city council meeting held April 8.

Students were asked to draw a picture or write an essay based on the SEE Program presentation, a one-hour program presented during school hours. Suggestions provided for the drawings and essays included detailed information about how simple lifestyle changes can help conserve our environment and how choosing energy efficient appliances, fixtures and other eco-friendly products for our homes, such as a natural gas tankless water heater, reduce our environmental impact and help preserve our world.
The basis of the SEE Program is to touch on issues related to Natural Gas, such as availability and use of natural resources, the explanation of non-renewable and renewable energy sources, facts about global warming and tips on energy conservation.
