Pensacola's First NAHB Green Certified Home Complete
September 15, 2010
Pensacola, Fl. - Pensacola has taken a step in the 'green' direction. The first National Association of Home Builder's (NAHB) Green Certified home in Pensacola, located at 1509 East Cross Street, has been built by Tomas Ondra of Ondra Home Building LLC. Designed by green home designer James Bozeman of Today's Homes of NW FL, the house passed certification for energy, water and resource efficiency, as well as indoor environmental quality. The NAHB "Silver" certification was given by Mark Clark of Okaloosa Gas and Larry Hunter with Energy Services of Pensacola, and Pam Kirk with EcoLogical Realty certified it "Platinum" for the Florida Green Building Coalition. The home is listed for sale by Trish Sarfert and Pam Kirk with EcoLogical Realty.
The National Green Building Certification was created to assure homeowners and the community that projects are truly green and meet the requirements of the NAHB National Green Building Standard. There are extensive guidelines and steps for certifying a green building or project, and an accredited NAHB Green Verifier can help with the process.
Larry Hunter, senior marketing representative for ESP, recently earned the designation as a Green Verifier from the NAHB and is able to help designers and builders take the necessary steps to achieve 'green' status. The verification program is offered at no charge to new homebuilders in Escambia County whose plans incorporate natural gas.
